Brown fused alumina consists of a mixture of bauxite and other and other raw materials that are melted and crystallized at high temperatures. It is characterized by high hardness, good toughness and large dimensions and shapes. Abrasive tools made from it are suitable for grinding metals with high tensile strength, such as carbon steel, general-purpose alloy steel, annealed malleable iron and hard broze. It is also used as a refractory material.
